I come from a complicated family. Love was always present—but so was unspoken pain and unresolved trauma. My parents’ relationship was strained, and my brother, who is 13 years older than me, began struggling with drug addiction when I was a child. His addiction has been a constant thread woven through my life for as long as I can remember.
Like many families, we didn’t know how to deal with it. We wanted to help, but we didn’t have the tools. I remember the frantic calls to hotlines and rehab centres—searching not only for support for my brother, but for ourselves. The system wasn’t set up for families unless the person using drugs was ready to seek help. We were left feeling helpless, alone, and unsure of what to do next.
Over time, through years of trial, heartbreak, and growth, I found a different way forward. I discovered strategies, boundaries, and perspectives that helped me reclaim my sense of self and bring peace back into my life—even when things around me hadn’t changed.
This journey taught me that healing is possible. That you can still live a meaningful life, even when someone you love is struggling. Now, my mission is to support others walking a similar path—to help you reconnect with your strength, your clarity, and your peace.
